Such endorsements give a quantifiable definition to the high-performance, sustainable-design and mechanical systems in the building. This is beneficial to the owner in many ways: First, it holds members of the design, owner and construction teams to an agreed-upon standard. Second, it adds value to a project by giving building owners an apples-to-apples way to quantify how their project compares to other projects that claim to be sustainable. Finally, certification can add increased value to a property during resale or rental.
