Hawtin Jorgensen Architects is a leader in sustainable construction, with a long-standing commitment to promoting and pursuing high-performance building design and construction. We actively maintain our fluency with these rapidly changing technologies so we can provide the best and most appropriate techniques to our community and to our clients.

We approach each project from the aspect of resource, or green, efficiency because we are committed to providing the best possible built environment. We begin with a careful analysis of the building site and a deliberate understanding of our client’s goals. Each layer added, whether conceptual, mechanical or visual, is then built upon this solid foundation. These multiple layers of design, and the decisions they entail, affect the success of any completed building project.

Hawtin Jorgensen Architects actively embraces using third-party verification tools, including the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Star certifications. Such endorsements give a quantifiable definition to the high-performance, sustainable-design and mechanical systems in the building. This is beneficial to the owner in many ways: First, it holds members of the design, owner and construction teams to an agreed-upon standard. Second, it adds value to a project by giving building owners an apples-to-apples way to quantify how their project compares to other projects that claim to be sustainable. Finally, certification can add increased value to a property during resale or rental.

In the end our goal is to have every project exceed our clients’ expectations while using the most efficient and sustainable methods to get there. This is the best use of our clients’ resources, and it’s good for the environment.

Hawtin Jorgensen Architects has completed these LEED-certified buildings:

  • Hawtin Residence: LEED-Home Gold certification, the first such certification awarded in Wyoming for a custom-built home.
  • University of Wyoming School of Business: LEED Gold certification
  • Davey Jackson Elementary School: LEED Gold certification, first such certification awarded to any school in Wyoming.
